Sedmak, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia This paper presents the analysis of the influence of temperature on mechanic properties of the base material and welded joints made of high strength steel. The joints were welded on S690QL high strength steel plates using the Metal Active Gas (MAG) Welding and two filler materials of different properties. Since the steel S690QL belongs to a group of steels with high strength, the aim of this paper is to determine the temperature at which strength starts to decrease. Experimental tensile testings of the welded joints were performed at five different temperatures in the range from 20 to 550 °C.

Effect of Different Welding Parameters on the Mechanical and Microstructural Properties of Stainless Steel 304H Welded Joints

In this research work, an attempt has been made to examine the different welding parameters which affect the weldability of 304H Austenitic stainless steel (ASS) welded joint using the proper filler wire. Chemical composition of filler wire was same as that of base metal. Further this study addressed the combined effect of various welding parameters on the metallurgical and mechanical propertie...

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of the Friction Welded Joint between X53CrMnNiN219 and X45CrSi93 Stainless Steel

Dissimilar metals friction welding of austenitic–martensitic stainless steels is commonly used in order to manufacture engine valves in the automobile industry. In this study, X53CrMnNiN219 (austenitic stainless steel) and X45CrSi93 (martensitic stainless steel) valve steel rods were welded by friction welding process. The welded joint was then heat treated at 760 0C for 60 min. Mechanical prop...

Influence of Rolling on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Bronze-Steel Explosive Welded Sheets

In this paper, the microstructure and mechanical properties of the plain carbon steel-bronze interface of explosive welding and rolling were investigated. Explosive connection was done at two stop distances and with two different thicknesses of explosive material. Rolling of the welded composite was done at both ambient and preheated temperatures of 300 °C and with a constant thickness reductio...

Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir welded copper / 316L stainless steel dissimilar metals

In the present research, friction stir welding (FSW) process was used for butt joining of pure copper plate to 316L stainless steel plate. Mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics of the joint were evaluated by microhardness and tensile tests as well as optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was found that microstructure of the weld nugget (WN) has fine grains where...
